About the Arkansas Firefighter Museum and Fire Education Center

The Arkansas Firefighter Museum and Fire Education Center is dedicated to preserving the proud history, service, and sacrifice of firefighters across the Natural State. More than just a museum, it is a living tribute to the men and women who have served in fire departments throughout Arkansas — a place where history, education, and community come together under one roof.

The museum will be permanently established in the historic 1962 North Little Rock Fire Department Central Station, located at the corner of 8th and Maple in North Little Rock, Arkansas. This iconic mid-century fire station is a fitting home for a museum that honors Arkansas’s fire service heritage. The building itself is part of that legacy — a place that once served the community and will soon serve generations to come as a center of learning and remembrance.

Inside, the museum will house an extensive and ever-growing collection of historical artifacts from fire departments across the state. Visitors will be able to explore vintage fire engines, antique tools and equipment, uniforms, photographs, documents, and personal stories from firefighters who have answered the call over the decades. Every exhibit tells a story — not just of fires fought and emergencies answered, but of courage, innovation, and community service.

Until the permanent location is fully restored and opened to the public, the museum currently operates out of a temporary facility in Alexander, Arkansas, where it continues its mission of collecting, preserving, and showcasing Arkansas firefighting history. The temporary location also serves as a vital base for community outreach and artifact conservation efforts.

At its core, the Arkansas Firefighter Museum and Fire Education Center is also an educational resource. Through interactive exhibits, safety demonstrations, and school programs, the museum teaches fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and the science behind firefighting. Whether through immersive learning experiences for children or public programs for adults, the center is committed to building a safer, more informed Arkansas.

The museum will also include a solemn memorial space to honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. These heroes will never be forgotten, and their stories will live on — not only in our exhibits but in the hearts of all who visit.

This is more than a museum. It’s a celebration of Arkansas’s firefighting legacy — past, present, and future. Whether you’re a retired firefighter, a student on a field trip, a tourist passing through, or someone with a passion for history and public service, the Arkansas Firefighter Museum and Fire Education Center invites you to experience a piece of Arkansas’s proud and heroic fire service story.
